Dear Friends,
A very happy new year! It is my proud privilege to welcome you to the 1st issue for 2010
of India Law Journal.
This issue focuses on important legal issues like crossing borders in international air and space law, climate proofing for infrastructure projects, regulations for probiotic foods, the recent judgment on foreign law firms from being debarred to practice in India, foreign currency exchangeable bonds, schedule X of the Indian Constitution, The Draft National Innovation Act, 2008, international trading of GMOs, education policy of the United States and family settlement issues. The interview of the month deals with the various challenges that face the US legal industry especially while dealing with the Indian legal system while the university reviewed for our ‘University of the Month’ section is King’s College London School of Law. In addition, there is also a book review on the life and trial of Bhagat Singh.
In November 2009, ILJ was the Media Partner for Lexis Nexis at the 2nd Annual Conference on Commercial Contracts and Alternate Dispute Resolution which was held at the ITC Maratha at Mumbai. This year, we are also conducting the 1st All India ILJ Legal Article Competition 2010 for students to apply their mind in terms of practicality in the legal profession. Another initiative on our front this year shall the taking out the ILJ Law School Rankings 2010 for both Indian and UK law schools. I wish to express my sincere thanks to all those who have extended their unflinching support for the launch of India Law Journal, particularly our esteemed Board of Editors and the Editorial Team. I also wish to convey my sincere gratitude to the erudite personalities who have contributed invaluable articles for publication. Your feedback will be extremely useful.
