Opening Address

Dear Friends,

It is my proud privilege to welcome you to the 2nd issue of India law Journal. India is growing as an important player in the corporate world. As the Hon’ble Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, rightly observed, “If you are a global company and India is not part of your plan, then you have missed the bus.”

This issue focuses on legal developments focusing across various topics like the genesis and evolution of the Water-Disputes Act, new areas of practicing in the form of KPOs, the London Agreement that will be in force from 1 May 2008 among others. The Interview of the Month deals with important debatable issues in the legal services sector i.e. whether foreign law firms should enter India or not, should LLP be introduced in the country etc.

From this issue onwards, India Law Journal will be updating its legal wraps section every two weeks in order to keep the readers abreast with the current happenings in the legal field, thereby making it more purposeful to international and Indian based law firms, corporate houses, law students as they adapt to taking cognizance of India’s growing position in this new era of globalization.

I wish to express my sincere thanks to all those who have extended their unflinching support for the launch of India Law Journal, particularly our esteemed Board of Editors. I also wish to convey my gratitude to the erudite personalities who have contributed invaluable articles for publication. Your feedback will be extremely useful.
